The Qaballah

The Qabala (kaballah, cabala) can be spelled many different ways but it is all the same. It represents the key of life’s creation. Although most people do not associate the Qabala with Wicca it can be incorporated within our expanded knowledge of all craft practices. It is something that can be learned as applied knowledge as a hand in hand combination with all magickal people.

All ten Sephiroh combined is called Sephiroth. Each sphere is called a sephirah and is ruled by an astrological sign or planet. They also are represented by Archangels and Angelic orders. The mystics, Ceremonial magicians and others may use it frequently. It can be somewhat similar to astrology in a sense. Each path from one sephirah to another has a meaning. Just like astrology has a meaning for each of the 12 houses. Each sphere can learn a magician something different.

By knowing the true name of the beings that inhabit each sephirah, you could effectively evoke them for doing great things. For example: helping a sick person to get better quicker (with their blessing of course). The number one rule for safely evoking an entity is to be sure of which entity you are trying to establish contact with and what its qualities are, before you attempt to bring it into manifestation. You don't want to bring in an Angelic being to do healing if it is more for war or wealth instead of healing. As always, study up on different beings or entities.

Just be sure to cast a protection circle around yourself before doing any evoking or spell crafting. The astral plane is full of good and bad entities. They do not need to be stuck on our plane. So always do a banishing before and after magick workings.

The Archangels

The general 4 archangels or guardians to work with are Gabriel, Michael, Raphael and Uriel though there are many more to work with. Here is a brief introduction and correspondences to each one.

Raphael: is the guardian of the East and Element of Air. You may call upon Raphael for healing on yourself or others. Thought to be the physician of the angelical realms or beings. The color associations are yellow and violet. The tool associations are the wand, caduceus and sometimes the sword. In Ceremonial magick the East is the direction most will start with while performing the "LBRP" or the temple creation of sacred space.

Michael: is the guardian of the South and Element of Fire. You may call upon Michael for just about any type of protection, whether it be a spirit entity or plain physical protection. And is often thought to be the "spiritual warrior " of the angelic realms. The color associations are Red and Green. The tool associations are the spear and the flaming sword.

Gabriel: is the guardian of the West and of the Water Element. Gabriel is the messenger of the archangels and is depicted with a trumpet. Gabriel is associated with the Holy Grail or a "chalice". The color associations are Blue and orange.

Uriel: is the guardian of the North and the Element of the Earth. Uriel is the archangel of death and rebirth as in descending the body to Mother Earth. It is noted that Uriel is a favorite of Witches and Pagans. The associated tool is the stone or the pentacle (some may show spellings of the pantacle disk). Color associations are usually Green, Brown, and Black. Author Christopher Penczak notes that some magicians associate this archangel with the colors of Black and Silver.
